Sam Turnbull is an emerging filmmaker based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Having written stories from a very young age, he discovered filmmaking at university, suddenly surrounded by filmmakers and kit that could bring his stories to life. As a director, his films have ranged from comedies to sci-fi, but as a rule he always likes to push the boundaries of what is possible with the resources given. For instance, Pop! Is a sci-fi film about someone that can teleport, shot by an amateur cast and crew. His first film, It's Just a Parcel, became award-winning. This desire to push the boundaries culminates in his latest project, Tommy the Superhero (below), which is a student production and was shot entirely in three days. Tommy the Superhero starts its festival run soon..

As a crew member, Sam has thrown myself into many other productions. In other student films, he have enjoyed learning to become a gaffer, and learnt a lot about lighting in the process. In professional productions outside of university, he has worked hard to grow his network, working as a runner. He is currently am aiming to become a floor runner in bigger and better productions, and to learn more about below-the-line roles so that he can develop a career in film and TV.
